Collective bargaining agreement for university employees
The collective bargaining agreement sets out the rights and responsibilities of the employer and the employees.
It serves as the uniform legal basis for all employees of Austrian universities and sets out specific minimum standards (e.g. regulations on minimum salaries, improved periods of notice and pension provision through a pension fund).
The collective bargaining agreement is automatically valid for all employees who enter into a contract of employment with the University of Vienna.
In your role as a university professor, the following provisions are of particular relevance (German only):
§ 75 Unverfallbarkeit (German only)
(1) Sowohl die Beiträge der Universität als auch die Beiträge der ArbeitnehmerInnen werden sofort mit ihrer Zahlung unverfallbar.
(2) Haben ArbeitnehmerInnen unverfallbare Anwartschaften erworben, haben sie bei Beendigung des Arbeitsverhältnisses vor Eintritt des Leistungsfalls Anspruch auf den Unverfallbarkeitsbetrag. Dieser entspricht 100 % der dem/ der Anwartschaftsberechtigten zum jeweiligen Austrittsstichtag zugeordneten Deckungsrückstellung. Anwartschaftsberechtigte können über den Unverfallbarkeitsbetrag nach § 5 Abs. 2 und 3 BPG verfügen.
